SOUTHERN PALMS RESORT, MOMBASA

SOUTHERN PALMS BEACH RESORT, MOMBASA

By Abdul Aziz

The Southern Palms Beach Resort is exactly as its name implies: It’s set on the South Coast of Mombasa, and it’s a veritable paradise set within thirteen acres of palm trees, bougainvillea and many other interesting species of flora! This ocean front property is set before one of the best beaches in the world: DianiBeach, and overlooks the delightfully warm green and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Compared to the North Coast Hotels which are more popular because of their vicinity to the city, the Southern Palm is a heaven where the key focus is on privacy, peace and serenity away from the crowds. Arrival at Southern Palms is preceded by a short drive from the Moi International Airport to Likoni, whereby a ferry boat awaits to take you to the other side!

Accommodation at this four star hotel is quite reasonable, considering the fact that it gives you the ultimate Kenyan hospitality, amazing facilities and access to one of the cleanest beaches in Africa. This hotel has 148 rooms of which 36 overlook the sea and have to be asked for in advance. The rest offer views of the amazing tropical gardens where the beguiling scent of flowers is ever present.

Families with children are accommodated on the ground floor for safety reasons. Each guest room is en suite and has amenities such as air conditioning, beautiful four poster beds carved in the traditional Swahili way, a mini bar, direct dial telephones, television and video and a balcony with easy chairs for you to relax in and sunbathe in private. For your security, the wardrobes are fitted with special combination locks so that your personal belongings are always safe!

Dining at the Coast is always a flavorful experience, and this is more so with the Southern Palms Beach Resort which gives you a taste of exotic cuisines at its Main Restaurant, Boriti Snack, Pizza and Bar Restaurant and the ever-popular Nyama Choma Restaurant. You just can’t afford to give the local Nyama Choma a miss! Guests are entertained during and after dinner with a combination of African traditional song and dance, local folklore, African bands and acrobatics.

As for those who love water sports, the Southern Palms offers deep sea diving, fishing, snorkeling off the shores, wind surfing and so on. And if you’re not in the mood to face the waves, why not use the two swimming pools?

The Southern Palms Beach Hotel is truly an exercise in peace, tranquility and fun. So why not take this chance to forget the world, have some fun and get a tan?

7 Acre Beach Plot Mtwapa
Beautiful Seven Acre Beach Plot At Mtwapa.
This plot is located at Mtwapa. It is a seven acre plot, with almost 6 acres undeveloped. The one acre that has been built upon includes two sea facing houses with a swimming pool, store, car parks and private access to the beach.
This plot is ideal for constructing Villas, since the access to the beach already exists the only thing remaining is the construction of the Villas. A good example of such a project is the Wonder Paradise Beach Resort located at South Coast. The development could consist of a stretch of several Villas facing the swimming pool with each Villa having access to the beach. The houses that already exist could be brought down and a lounge area could be put up instead.
The owner is asking for 25M per acre but he is very keen for a quick sale it so there is lots of room for negotiation, which could bring the price down significantly.
Mtwapa is being developed at an alarming rate. This place is in huge demand hence a very good investment, prices for a 50 x 80 plot at the moment are going for 2.5M.
The pictures say the rest

The "InshaAllah..." Mindset Strikes Again
After having asked my husband to clean the yard "this week" 9 weeks running now, so that HIS guests can have a safe (and clean) place for their children to play, I do not feel bad at all posting this. Anyone who has been a English teacher in USA, or anywhere in Asia, and in the Middleeast, will relate. So will loads of others, so even though MOP DOES NOT fit the "inshaAllah" stereotype, I am mad about the "inshaAllah I will clean the yard" soooooo.... here goes.JAPANESE/CHINESE/KOREAN ATTITUDE FOR WORK:"If one can do it, I can do it. If no one can do it, I must do it."MIDDLE EASTERN ATTITUDE FOR WORK:"Wallahi, if one can do it, let him do it. If no one can do it, ya habibi how can I do it?"

"Caring What People Think Too Much in Oman"
Caring what people think too much, is a village's theme in Oman. Which is why my husband, who loves his village more passionatley than many who actually reside there, does not want to live there at this point in his life. Same goes for his cousin, who has all her family and friends there, but wishes often, that she could escape to a nice cosy apartment in Muscat.Example: my sister in law recently purchased the abaya pictured below.
